Ug...
I’ve been trying to wait until I could report something interesting before posting. Well it’s been just under three weeks and still nothing worth bragging about. But if you’re at all interested I’ve done the following:
- I finally fixed my car stereo. It’s been three months since I listened to music in my car. Now looking at my CDs, I think I need some new music. Any suggestions?
- I fed what I believe to be a stray cat. It could have been just a regular outdoor cat for all I know, but it didn’t have a collar and it was thin and really hungry. It was crying and I made it stop. Regardless of whether or not it was a stay, feeding it made me feel good.
- I’ve been doing my best to go hiking at least once a week. The problem is that I’ve only really made it out once. The last two attempts were completely fruitless. I keep getting lost on my way to park/trail. Georgia completely renumbered all its highway exits about 7 years ago and the hiking book that I purchased a couple of weeks ago uses these old numbers. So now I have an extra step of going online to get the real directions, but I’m finding that these are not always accurate.
- This weekend I had the opportunity to attend JapanFest. I learned about sake tasting, Zen Buddhism, Japanese Gardening, and how to prepare sushi (including how to do some veggie art). It was a great way to expose myself to some area clubs and schools. I could join a Zen meditation school (but the school reps make the guys from Revenge of the Nerds seem cool), or maybe take up Aikido (it’s cool, but I really don’t foresee myself ever needing/using it), what I’d really like to do is take some Japanese language classes (but the classes are at 4:00PM when I’d still be at work). I guess the best thing I took from the whole event was the ice cream filled mochi.
- I took a cooking class in downtown Atlanta. I didn’t really learn anything new so I guess it was a waste of 50 bucks. That’s what I get for religiously watching the Food Network. I’m thinking of signing up as an instructor’s assistant though. It might be a good way of meeting some people.
- I tried to cancel my Comcast subscription, but the discount I get from subscribing to both television and internet was more than the cheapest TV subscription. So I’ve switched to the cheapest subscription, which are stations that I never watch so in a sense I’m without TV. Now I should have less distractions and more incentive to get out of the apartment. I do plan on getting NetFlix. Any recommendations?

Music suggestions? What are you in the mood for? I've been on a crazy metal kick for a while now. Hey, do you know who the Shipping News are? You should get everything you can find by them, which probably won't be very much.
Cats are stupid - I can think of a quicker way to make a cat stop "crying."
Sorry to hear about the cooking class and hiking attempts, but that Japan stuff sounds pretty cool. You know, if you join Aikido, there's a chance you'll bump into Kerry there, depending on which club he goes to.
Good job with the getting rid of the cable thing, too. TV = NG!
Shipping News doesn't sound very metal. I'll look them up. As far as metal goes I can't get enough of Ensiferum. I keep hearing them on The Entropy League and I likes what I hears.
Speaking of Kerry, last week in my drivings around Atlanta I found that really good cuban resturant next to that really good pizza place, that the 404 crew (I believe that's what you called them) used to go too all the time. Now if only I had someone to go to dinner with...I hate eating alone.
